Q & A

"How does the SHINSAFE® appliance door alert reduce household injuries?"

By attaching the SHINSAFE® alert to the front of a downward-opening appliance door, it will remind you when the door is down and in a hazardous position. A blinking red light glows onto the floor, and an adjustable beep gently alerts you to the open door. The SHINSAFE® device helps you remember the door is open and is in harm's way.

"On what appliances can I use the SHINSAFE® door alert?"

A SHINSAFE® alert can be used on any appliance with a downward-opening door that might cause accidental collisions or falls. For example: dishwashers, clothes dryers or ovens.

"How do I install the SHINSAFE® warning device?"

The SHINSAFE® alert is easy to install with just a small screwdriver and does not require any maintenance for up to one year.

Instructions:
1. Use a small screwdriver to remove the cover screw and lift off the cover. Insert two (2) AAA batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) in battery compartment. Replace the cover and then the screw.

2. Remove the back adhesive paper and position the SHINSAFE® device on the "working from" side of the door: For example: if dishes are loaded from the left side of washer, mount the device on front of the door in the top left corner. The SHINSAFE® device should be affixed at an angle (as it rests in the package) so the left edge of the device should be parallel to the side of the door-see illustration. Mounting instructions are reversed if loading is from the right.

3. Slide the switch (on bottom of device) to mid-position for blinking light only or all the way to the right for both LED and beep alerts.

4. To adjust the interval time between beeps, use a small screwdriver. Turn the interval control clockwise for a longer time between beeps.

"Do I have to turn on the SHINSAFE® device every time I open the appliance door?"

No, this alert system activates only when the door is lowered, so once it is installed, you do not need to do anything to use it!

"How do I adjust the intermittent beep or turn it off?"

Use a small screwdriver to turn the interval control dial: A clockwise turn for longer intervals, counterclockwise for shorter intervals (the range is approximately 7 to 60 seconds). You may also change the light-beep combination by sliding the switch on the bottom of the device. The left position turns both the LED and beep off, the middle position turns on only the blinking light, and the right position turns on both the LED and the beep.

"How much does the SHINSAFE® appliance door alert cost?"

The introductory price is only $19.95 plus S&H. You may purchase two (2) units for $29.95 plus S&H.
