After years of treating people with leg injuries caused by collisions with appliance doors, primarily the dishwasher, Dr. Burnett surveyed 1000 patients to determine how common an accident it was. Over 60% of respondents had experienced this injury, often several times. Although it may seem like a small problem, Dr. Burnett has patients who have fallen over the door and even experienced cancerous growths from the site of the leg injury necessitating surgical removal.

As a result, Dr. Burnett developed the SHINSAFE® appliance door alert, a device designed to end these common leg injuries. The SHINSAFE® alert reminds you the door is down and thus prevents you from bumping into it and injuring yourself.
